Child Protection Policy

Safeguarding Every Child with Unwavering Commitment & Care

Child Protection Policy

The Child Protection Policy of Blessed-Day Relief Foundation establishes our unwavering commitment to the safety, dignity, and well-being of every child who comes into contact with our organization. As a humanitarian foundation dedicated to serving vulnerable communities, we recognize our profound moral and legal obligation to protect children from all forms of harm, abuse, exploitation, and neglect. This policy articulates the principles, standards, and procedures that guide all aspects of our work involving children.

Policy Statement

Our Foundational Commitment

Blessed-Day Relief Foundation is unequivocally committed to protecting children from abuse, exploitation, neglect, and all forms of harm. We believe that every child, regardless of their background, circumstances, or location, has the inherent right to grow up in a safe, nurturing, and protective environment. This fundamental belief underpins every aspect of our humanitarian work and organizational operations.

Our commitment to child protection extends beyond mere compliance with legal requirements. It reflects our core organizational values and our understanding that children represent the most vulnerable members of the communities we serve. We recognize that humanitarian settings can sometimes increase risks to children, and we therefore hold ourselves to the highest standards of vigilance, accountability, and proactive safeguarding.

Zero-Tolerance Policy

The Foundation maintains a strict zero-tolerance approach to child abuse in all its forms. Any individual found to have engaged in conduct that harms or endangers a child will face immediate consequences, including termination and referral to appropriate authorities.

This policy applies to all individuals associated with Blessed-Day Relief Foundation, including but not limited to Board members, executive leadership, employees at all levels, volunteers, interns, consultants, contractors, partners, and any other persons acting on behalf of or in association with the Foundation. There are no exceptions to this policy, and all covered individuals are expected to uphold its principles and comply with its requirements without reservation.

Universal Application:

This Child Protection Policy applies across all of the Foundation's programs, projects, activities, and operations worldwide. It governs our conduct whether we are providing direct services to children, engaging with families and communities, creating communications materials, or undertaking any other activities where children may be affected by our work.

2

Definition of a Child

Clear & Universal Standard

For the purposes of this policy and all related safeguarding measures, Blessed-Day Relief Foundation adopts a clear, internationally recognized definition of childhood that aligns with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and prevailing international humanitarian standards.

OFFICIAL DEFINITION

A child is defined as any person under the age of 18 years.

This definition applies universally, regardless of local laws, cultural practices, or perceived maturity.

This definition is applied universally throughout our organization and across all jurisdictions in which we operate, regardless of local laws or cultural practices that may define childhood differently. We recognize that some countries may have lower ages of majority or different legal frameworks regarding childhood; however, for the purposes of our child protection obligations, the 18-year threshold applies without exception.

The Foundation acknowledges that children of different ages have varying capacities, vulnerabilities, and needs. While all individuals under 18 are considered children under this policy, we tailor our safeguarding approaches to be age-appropriate and responsive to the specific developmental stages and circumstances of the children with whom we work. Younger children, adolescents, and children with disabilities may require differentiated protection measures.

Age Verification:

In situations where a person's age is uncertain and cannot be verified through documentation, the Foundation will presume the individual to be a child and apply all relevant safeguarding protections until age can be reliably established. The safety and protection of potentially vulnerable individuals takes precedence over administrative convenience.

Scope of Application

When This Policy Applies

Relief Beneficiaries: Children who receive humanitarian assistance through our programs are entitled to the full protection of this policy. This includes children in emergency response situations, those receiving ongoing support services, and those participating in development programs. Special care is taken to ensure that the provision of aid does not inadvertently expose children to additional risks.

Strict protocols ensure that such use protects children's dignity, privacy, and safety while obtaining appropriate consent.

Safeguarding Commitments

Our Promises to Children

Blessed-Day Relief Foundation makes the following solemn commitments to every child who interacts with our organization. These commitments represent the practical expression of our child protection principles and guide all decisions and actions involving children.

Acting in the Best Interest of the Child

The Foundation commits to making the best interest of the child the primary consideration in all decisions affecting children. This principle, enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, requires that whenever actions are taken that may impact children—whether in program design, service delivery, communications, or organizational operations—the welfare, safety, and developmental needs of children take precedence. Staff and representatives are trained to apply this principle consistently, asking themselves in every situation: "What is best for the child in this circumstance?"

Obtaining Consent from Parents or Legal Guardians

The Foundation commits to obtaining informed, voluntary consent from parents or legal guardians before engaging with children in ways that extend beyond routine humanitarian service delivery. This includes consent for the collection and use of children's personal information, the capture and use of images or stories, participation in research or documentation activities, and any other interactions that require authorization beyond what is necessary for immediate humanitarian assistance. Consent processes are designed to be accessible, culturally appropriate, and genuinely informed, ensuring that parents and guardians understand what they are agreeing to and can freely decline without consequence.

Ensuring Dignity, Privacy, and Confidentiality

The Foundation commits to treating every child with dignity and respect, protecting their privacy, and maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding their personal information and circumstances. Children will never be portrayed in demeaning, exploitative, or sensationalized ways. Their personal stories and situations will be shared only with appropriate consent and only in ways that preserve their dignity. Personal information about children is handled in accordance with strict data protection standards, with access limited to those who genuinely need it for legitimate purposes. Children's identities are protected from unauthorized disclosure.

Preventing Exploitation or Harmful Exposure

The Foundation commits to proactively identifying and mitigating risks that could lead to children being exploited or exposed to harm through our activities. This includes conducting safeguarding risk assessments for all programs involving children, implementing appropriate protective measures, training staff to recognize and respond to potential risks, and continuously monitoring and improving our safeguarding practices. We are vigilant against the possibility that humanitarian programs, while well-intentioned, could inadvertently create opportunities for those who would harm children, and we implement robust measures to prevent such outcomes.

5

Prohibited Conduct

Strictly Forbidden Actions

Blessed-Day Relief Foundation explicitly prohibits the following conduct by any individual associated with the organization. These prohibitions are absolute and apply in all circumstances, without exception. Violations constitute grounds for immediate disciplinary action, termination, and referral to law enforcement authorities.

Absolute Prohibitions:

The following conduct is strictly forbidden under all circumstances. There are no exceptions, no justifications, and no mitigating factors that will be accepted for violations of these prohibitions.

Child Abuse in Any Form

Physical abuse, including hitting, slapping, shaking, or any physical force that causes or could cause injury or harm to a child. Emotional or psychological abuse, including verbal attacks, threats, intimidation, humiliation, isolation, or any conduct that damages a child's psychological well-being or development. Neglect, including the failure to provide adequate care, supervision, or protection when responsible for a child's welfare. Any other conduct that causes or creates a risk of harm to a child's physical, emotional, or psychological well-being is absolutely prohibited.

Sexual Exploitation or Grooming

Any sexual activity with a child, regardless of apparent consent, the age of consent in local jurisdictions, or the child's perceived willingness. Grooming behaviors, which include building relationships with children for the purpose of sexual exploitation, manipulation, or abuse. Exposing children to sexual content, imagery, or situations. Soliciting or facilitating sexual contact between children and third parties. Using positions of power, trust, or influence to engage in or facilitate sexual misconduct with children. Creating, possessing, or distributing child sexual abuse material. Any conduct of a sexual nature involving children is absolutely prohibited.

Unauthorized Use of a Child's Image or Story

Capturing, using, or distributing photographs, videos, audio recordings, or other media featuring children without proper consent from parents or legal guardians. Using children's images or stories in ways that could identify them to those who might cause them harm. Portraying children in undignified, exploitative, or sensationalized ways. Sharing children's personal information, circumstances, or identifying details without authorization. Using children's images or stories for purposes other than those for which consent was obtained.

Any Interaction That Endangers a Child

Placing children in situations that expose them to unnecessary risk of harm. Failing to report known or suspected child protection concerns. Interfering with or undermining child protection investigations or responses. Retaliating against individuals who report child protection concerns in good faith. Acting in ways that prioritize organizational reputation over child safety. Any conduct that compromises the safety, security, or well-being of children, whether through action or inaction.

6

Reporting & Response

Taking Action to Protect Children

The Foundation has established clear procedures for reporting and responding to child protection concerns. Every individual associated with Blessed-Day Relief Foundation has a duty to report any concern, suspicion, allegation, or evidence of child abuse, exploitation, or harm. Prompt reporting is essential to protect children and enable appropriate response.

Mandatory Reporting Obligation:

All child protection concerns must be reported immediately. This is not optional. Every person associated with the Foundation has an absolute duty to report concerns, regardless of their role, the source of the concern, or uncertainty about whether abuse has occurred. When in doubt, report. The Foundation will investigate all reports thoroughly and confidentially.

Response Process

1
Immediate Reporting

Upon becoming aware of any child protection concern, the individual must report immediately to the designated Child Protection Officer or through established reporting channels. Reports can be made verbally or in writing, and reporters should provide as much detail as possible while avoiding unnecessary investigation that could compromise evidence or put children at further risk.

2
Initial Assessment

The Child Protection Officer will conduct an initial assessment to determine the nature and severity of the concern, identify any immediate safety risks to the child, and determine the appropriate course of action. This assessment is conducted promptly, with the child's immediate safety as the paramount consideration.

3
Appropriate Action

Based on the assessment, the Foundation will take appropriate action, which may include implementing immediate protective measures for the child, conducting an internal investigation, referring the matter to law enforcement or child protection authorities, providing support to the affected child and family, and taking disciplinary action against any staff or associates involved in misconduct.

4
Referral to Authorities

Where concerns involve potential criminal conduct or where statutory child protection services have jurisdiction, the Foundation will refer matters to appropriate authorities. The Foundation cooperates fully with law enforcement and child protection investigations and does not allow internal processes to impede or delay external investigations.

Reporter Protection

Individuals who report child protection concerns in good faith are protected from retaliation. The Foundation prohibits any adverse action against reporters and maintains confidentiality to the extent possible while ensuring effective response.

Timely Response

All child protection concerns are treated as urgent. Initial assessments are completed within 24 hours, and appropriate protective actions are implemented immediately. Delays in response are not acceptable when children's safety is at stake.

7

Enforcement

Consequences & Accountability

Blessed-Day Relief Foundation takes violations of this Child Protection Policy with the utmost seriousness. The enforcement provisions outlined below reflect our unwavering commitment to protecting children and holding accountable any individual who breaches these standards.

Immediate Consequences:

Violations of this Child Protection Policy result in immediate suspension pending investigation. Confirmed violations lead to termination of employment or association with the Foundation, and where appropriate, referral to law enforcement and child protection authorities for potential criminal prosecution.

Immediate Suspension

Any individual against whom a credible allegation is made is immediately suspended from all duties and access pending investigation

Termination

Confirmed violations result in immediate termination of employment, contracts, or volunteer arrangements with the Foundation

Legal Reporting

Matters involving potential criminal conduct are referred to law enforcement authorities for investigation and prosecution

The Foundation's enforcement approach prioritizes the protection of children above all other considerations. Investigations are conducted thoroughly, fairly, and promptly, but the safety of children is never compromised for the sake of procedural convenience or organizational reputation. Where there is any doubt, precautionary measures are implemented to ensure children are protected while investigations proceed.

Individuals found to have violated this policy will be permanently barred from future association with Blessed-Day Relief Foundation. The Foundation may also share information about confirmed violations with other humanitarian organizations and appropriate registries to prevent perpetrators from gaining access to children through other channels.

Fair Process:

While the Foundation maintains a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse, all accused individuals are entitled to a fair investigation process. Allegations are investigated thoroughly and objectively, with conclusions based on evidence. However, during investigations, precautionary suspension and other protective measures remain in place to ensure children's safety.

Our Commitment to Every Child

This Child Protection Policy represents the solemn commitment of Blessed-Day Relief Foundation to every child whose life we touch. We recognize that children are not simply beneficiaries of humanitarian assistance—they are individuals with inherent dignity and rights who deserve to be protected, respected, and empowered.

Through the faithful implementation of this policy, we pledge to create safe spaces wherever we work, to respond swiftly and effectively to any threats to children's safety, and to continuously strengthen our safeguarding practices. Protecting children is not merely an organizational requirement—it is a moral imperative that lies at the very heart of our humanitarian mission.
